I have just had another baby Isabelle who is currently 7 weeks old and seems to be a lot more clingy than Jessica and just wants to be held all the time, we have been using this blanket at bed time and its working a treat, she goes off to sleep really easily and resettles again if she feeds in the night, this blanket i think makes her feel like she is still being cuddled along with using this I move the warm muslin used in feeding back to the bed with her.

The birth of our Sleepyhead Weighted Blanket started when a nursing Sister who runs a private baby clinic asked us to make a weighted blanket to help babies sleep. After trying different mediums we had a micro biologist test them on their new baby and she advised us in which direction to go re the filling.
Then an occupational therapist who had just completed a book called “Baby Sense” in which she advised mothers to use a weighted blanket for babies who would not settle. She had just had another baby and she tested the weight and found it perfect for her child. She asked for 12 samples and had Mothers test the blanket out and fill in a questionnaire as to when and how the blanket worked.
The results were fantastic. At that time the blanket weighed 650grams. Every baby is niggly at some time in their baby hood and besides that we all like to feel cuddled and that is where this blanket comes in.
The occupational therapists explained that when babies used to lie on their tummy’s there was pressure on their torso which comforted them and made them calm so by putting the weighted blanket on top of babies torso it does the same thing.
This product has been rebranded for the UK market from the orginal South African Grace Weighted Babt Blanket, manufactured by Orthopeadic Textiles Pty under the name of Sleepyhead.
Sleepyhead Weighted Baby Blanket has been designed through the ingenious use of weights so that a baby will feel like it is being cuddled.
How to use the blanket
On cold days place the Sleepyhead Weighted Baby blanket between the parent and baby, maybe during feeding. This warms the blanket to body temperature and can then be used to cover the baby whilst sleeping.
If you require a cooled blanket, place the Sleepyhead Weighted Baby blanket in a plastic bag and place in the freezer until the blanket has cooled.

Sleepyhead Weighted Baby Blanket offers the sense of being cuddled, has been advised by Occupational Therapists, tested by Midwives and offers the sense of being cuddled to the the baby, therefore acting as a sensory sleep aid.
Blanket make up
The outer blanket is made of white natural cotton, with the Sleepyhead motif in the bottom right hand corner. The outer blanket is machine washable, suggest cold wash only. The inner blanket can only be accessed through a narrow slit in the outer blanket that is secured via velcro, therefore making sure the baby is not chewing directly onto the inner blanket, or able to pull out the inner blanket.
The Inner blacket has been manufactured to meet the CE mark, it has an even distribution of small pockets containing very small inert weights that are non toxic, non smelling and contain no seeds, this blanket will need to be washed by hand, cold wash. For drying of the inner blackets it is best to wring it slightly and the hang to dry. Do not tumble dry. The product can be washed with any standard automatic, normal approved washing powder.

Blanket is suitable up to the age of nine months, but it does vary from baby to baby, please bear in mind the size of the blanket.
